Egg Freezing

Egg freezing (Oocyte Cryopreservation) is used for patient’s that currently do not have a partner or want to delay fertilization for medical or
personal reasons. Egg freezing gives patients the greatest flexibility and options for getting pregnant at a future date. Similar to IVF, the patient is given injectable medication for 8-12 days to stimulate the ovaries and allow the eggs (oocytes) to mature. The progress of the stimulation is followed and assessed with ultrasounds and hormone levels. Once enough eggs have matured the patient is scheduled to have the eggs removed under ultrasound guidance (IVF Retrieval) in the office. The eggs (oocytes) are frozen and stored (cryopreserved) until the patient is ready to start a family.
