Frozen Embryo Transfer

Frozen Embryo Transfer is the process in which frozen (cryopreserved) embryos are transferred to a patient’s uterus from a previous In Vitro Fertilizaton (IVF) cycle. The patient’s uterus is “prepared” to receive the embryos by a combination of estrogen, progesterone and injectable medications over the course of 2-3 weeks. The preparation of the uterus for receiving the embryos is monitored with ultrasound and  hormone levels over that time period. When it has been determined the uterine lining is normal in appearance and favorable to receive the embryos the transfer of embryos will be performed.
